EnsilaBac-L
Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus & L. paracaseiA live bacterial silage inoculant that speeds fermentation, preserves nutrients and protects silage quality from pit to trough.

About EnsilaBac-L
EnsilaBac-L is a live bacterial silage inoculant featuring Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus and Lacticaseibacillus paracasei cultures, delivering a 27 billion CFU/mL cell count and more than 500,000 live bacterial cells per gram of treated silage.
The bacteria produce lactic acid that quickly lowers silage pH, creating stable, nutrient-rich fermentation that dominates harmful bacteria and supports a healthy silage ecosystem.
The formulation combines four proven strains — L. plantarum (56.7%), L. rhamnosus (26.5%), L. paracasei (14.2%) and L. buchneri (2.7%) — for roughly 27 billion CFU/mL in total.
Suitable for a wide variety of crops including maize, sorghums, oats, stooling rye, rye and smutsfinger. A marked increase in palatability has been shown in roughage bales treated with EnsilaBac — we advise adding 2–5% sugar source such as molasses to bales to aid fermentation of low-sugar crops.
Key benefits
Fast, stable fermentation
Live lactic acid bacteria quickly lower pH for stable, nutrient-rich silage.
Preserves over 95% of nutrients
Retains carbohydrates, protein, vitamins and minerals otherwise lost to poor fermentation.
Inhibits harmful microbes & mycotoxins
Suppresses Clostridia, Listeria and E. coli, and reduces mycotoxin contamination from mould growth.
More profit per ton
Higher dry matter recovery, more palatable feed and better animal intake — around a 25% reduction in cost.
Healthier, more productive animals
Supports rumen health, immune function and reproductive performance, boosting average daily gain.
How it works
Live inoculation
EnsilaBac-L bacteria are applied to fresh forage at harvest and packing.
Rapid acidification
Lactic acid bacteria convert plant sugars into lactic acid, quickly lowering pH.
Stable fermentation
Low pH in a sealed, oxygen-free silo suppresses spoilage organisms.
Nutrient preservation
Stable fermentation locks in carbohydrates, protein, vitamins and minerals.
Better feed, better animals
Nutrient-dense, palatable silage supports intake, digestion and performance.
Mixing & application guide
- Dilution
Mix 1 litre of EnsilaBac-L with 25 litres of water for even bacterial distribution.
- Application
Apply at a dosage of 1 litre per 50 tons of silage.
- Silage moisture
Ensure 60–65% moisture content at harvest for optimal bacterial activity.
- Distribution
Evenly spread the solution over silage during packing.
- Silo sealing
Seal the silo properly post-application to foster an anaerobic environment.
- Fermentation period
Wait a minimum of 14 days post-inoculation before opening the silo.
- Storage
Keep EnsilaBac-L in a cool place, with no direct sunlight or heat exposure.
Wait a minimum of 14 days after inoculation before opening the silo, and keep EnsilaBac-L in a cool place away from direct sunlight or heat.
Ideal crops
Compatibility
One 1-litre bottle treats up to 50 tons of silage when diluted 1:25 with water.
